Lucky or unlucky? Depends on where you live.

So, it seems like the Twilight DVD (I know. I'm talking about Twilight again... you guys are probably sick of hearing the T-word coming out of my mouth..) sold here is... well... WAY lower than expectations. First off, there is only one disc of the DVD. Fair enough. Then, there are no special features whatsoever. So uncool. What's more uncool is that it costs RM39.90. Only the movie? That price? WTF? Some other DVDs out there only sell for RM19.90 and only has the movie without extras!! So, it has come to my attention that Malaysia is cool in many ways, yet uncool in other ways. Cool: 1. No wars, no fights, no rowdy protesters every week, no bombings, no volcanoes, no twisters, no typhoons, no hurricane. 2. Natural disasters rarely happens.. floods, landslides.. 3. We have really cool music bands and underground rock bands. 4. We have Astro, which brings us E!, MTV, HBO, Animax, etc. 5. We can produce our own movies, which has reached international status. Ditto on movie stars and di…

Siftables are so cool!

Image
Hey guys. You just gotta check these out! They are totally awesome. They are called Siftables, and is designed by David Merrill (the nice-lookin' guy in the video above)  and Jeevan Kalanithi from MIT Media Lab. Taken from the official website: Siftables are cookie-sized computers with motion sensing, neighbor detection, graphical display, and wireless communication. They act in concert to form a single interface: users physically manipulate them - piling, grouping, sorting - to interact with digital information and media. Siftables provides a new platform on which to implement tangible, visual and mobile applications. Isn't it awesome?! Totally!! Image from Softpedia, video from Siftables.com via I.Are.Talk.

Hey guys! OMG it felt like forever since I updated this blog of mine.. thinking of changing the look...I'll get to that later. Alright, so what have I been up to these few weeks of which was not documented here? Well, let's see.  These are plaguing my life: 1. The assignments keep on coming! I'm beginning to sleep late almost every night. Sometimes because of work, and sometimes, because I was too bored to sleep (??) 3. I'm starting to think that Civil Engineering ain't suitable for me (Ya think?). 4. Sucky Celcom Broadband connection (it is supposedly 'Broadband No. 1 Di Malaysia, Paling Luas, Paling Pantas, Paling Canggih'.. bah humbug..) 5. Finals next month. I'm excited over: 1. Earth Hour 2009

Image
Hey guys! Let's do our part for Earth Day this year! Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia with 2.2 million homes and businesses turning their lights off for one whole hour. Only a year later and this event had become a global sustainability movement with up to 100 million people across 35 countries participating. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square, all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour. In 2009, at 8.30pm on March 28, we are asking people across the world to turn off their lights and join together in creating the vital conversation about the future of our precious planet. Earth Hour is a message of hope and a message of action. Everyone can make a difference.  It’s as simple as a flick of the switch. Join us for Earth Hour 2009. Check it out on Flickr, Facebook, and the official website.

Why life is more complicated than a 1000-piece puzzle part end: It is, and always will be, complicated.

Image
Well, finally, a week of excitement, turmoil, exhaustion, and stress, is over. Time for a little R&R on the weekends. NOT! There are still assignments to be done (3!), and one more mid-term test on Tuesday. Hah! Anyway, I think it is the time to close the subject on life and face the truth, the brutal truth: Life is complicated. There's nothing much we can do about it. And it took me a week to reach this revelation...hahahaha!!!! Have fun this weekend, everyone. I can see clearly now, the rain is gone...

Why life is more complicated than a 1000-piece puzzle part 3: That which we call a rock by any other name would feel as hard

Image
Today, we went for our field trip for Geology. The whole purpose is to study rocks around Kuching, but everyone seems to be having fun more than excited about rocks. Ha! So anyway, we went to were supposed to go to 6 localities, but we skipped one. I have no idea why. We went to Santubong resort, the foot of Mount Santubong, Pasir Panjang Beach, Sejingkat, Country Hills Apartment, and Batu Kitang. Best part? The beach, of course! Well, we didn't go to the sea, but we did see rocks... and bridal photoshoot sessions. While everyone's looking at the couple, I was analyzing the bride's dress.. trust me to be the odd one out... Also, at every spot, one thing is not missed. Fist, we took rock samples. Second, we took photos of ourselves...OK, make that 2... It's pretty eventful as well. We got pulled over by JPJ, and they wanna take the bus cos we didn't bring some letter of charter or something. But our lecturer, Ms. Salma worked her charm (she said that the bus is for e…

Why life is more complicated than a 1000-piece puzzle part 2: Math should be like Sudoku

Image
Alright. So, our Math mid-term just finished, and.. it was like crap... Ok, so I admit it. I didn't really study. Just.. study... but not to deep, just skimming the surface. And thus, it blew up in my face.  Why does it have to have so many steps and si much stuff to remember? Sheesh. Isn't it good if Math is like... sudoku or something. Everything adds up to 9. Pfft. Anyway, tomorrow we are having our site visit for Geology.. we're going to look at rocks at 5 different locations... oh joy...

Why life is more complicated than a 1000-piece puzzle

Ever since I started to go on studying after Form 5, I feel there's no more fun in life. Really. Totally lost the thrill of life. Why? Cos there's no time for everything else. It's like, you gotta study 24/7. If you are not studying, you are doing assignments, or doing research for an upcoming assignment. See. No thrill anymore. So, this thing called 'study' takes up so much time of my life that I've felt so distant with my family ever since I came back from Labuan. I hardly have any family time anymore. I only see my parents on weekends, and that's not much... at least I get to go back every weekend. Some students only go back every 4-5 months... Can life get suckier? It will this evening. We have a stupid sh*tty Math test... as if we don't have enough work to reduce our sleeping hours.  Will blog more if the internet connection doesn't make me wanna throw my wireless modem and laptop out the window..
